How to choose your equipment
Choose your sound system by the space, the number of guests and the programme, not by wattage alone. A quiet dinner in a restaurant needs only a pair of active speakers and one microphone for the host, while a conference calls for several microphones, a mixing desk and stage monitoring so speakers can hear themselves. A concert or live band needs a more powerful rig with stage monitors and subwoofers. What matters most is that the sound reaches every guest evenly, with no harsh or muffled spots, so always match the system to the room's acoustics rather than to floor area alone.
Typical configurations depend on the guest count. Up to 50 people, two active speakers and a wireless microphone are often enough. For a wedding or birthday with 50 to 150 guests we add a subwoofer and a compact mixer so the music sounds full. A conference or concert for 150 to 400 people needs distributed sound, several microphones and stage monitoring so speakers and performers can hear themselves. For larger events of several hundred to several thousand guests we build a powerful line array with a dedicated sound engineer at the desk. Not sure what you need? Describe your event and guest count, and we will choose the right kit and stay to look after the sound until the very end. Let's talk about your event.
Frequently asked questions
How many speakers does an event for 200 people need?
Two speakers are not enough for a crowd that size. For a room of around 200 guests we usually set up two main speakers, a subwoofer and, if the space is long, extra speakers for the farther zones. The exact number depends on the room's shape and acoustics, so send us your event details and venue, and we will plan even coverage for every guest.
Does sound rental include an engineer during the event?
Yes, we work full cycle: we deliver, install and tune the sound system, then leave a technician who looks after the sound throughout the event until strike. If you are looking for equipment only, we can offer a suitable kit from our catalogue. Tell us about your event and we will agree what support you need.
Which microphones suit speeches, and which suit live music?
For speeches and conferences, wireless handheld or lapel microphones are most convenient, letting the speaker move freely. For live music we choose wired vocal microphones and separate microphones for instruments, as they handle higher volume and feed back less. Describe your programme and how many people will speak or play, and we will select the right microphone set.
Will the sound be loud enough for an outdoor event with no walls?
Outdoors, sound does not reflect off walls, so it carries less and we choose a more powerful system than for an indoor room of the same size. For longer spaces we place extra speakers so even the farthest guests hear clearly. We also assess the power supply and the distance to neighbours. Send us the venue details and guest count, and we will plan the right outdoor system.
